About JanKossen
JanKossen Contemporary Art Gallery is a Swiss-association based in Basel, Switzerland. The gallery's mission is to foster international cultural-exchange, by organising new curatorial projects promoting artists primarily from outside Europe. Artist on show are from the Greater Middle East including Pakistan; South and Central Asia, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
With an emphasis on discovering and cultivating new talent, the gallery presents imaginative thematic exhibitions and tightly focused solo exhibitions, where the aim is to increase the appreciation of non-European artists, among an audience of both seasoned as well as new generation collectors.
History
JanKossen was established in 2006 in Sydney and Singapore, advising private and corporate collectors on predominantly Chinese contemporary art, as well as art stemming from the Asia Pacific and the Middle East.
Since 2009, the gallery is headquartered in Basel, Switzerland. The permanent gallery space is designed as a "home gallery", where both changing and its permanent collections are shown. In September 2011 the gallery opened a second space for larger group and solos shows.
