Artists Statement
Old railway tickets - often the dates are still visible - depict moments captured as if on photo or on film. Faces, animals, details of clothing - pictures that Dalpar captures and re-creates using the miniaturist painter's technique, however painted onto an unconventual canvas.
This series of works reflect the artist's memories, experiences and emotios while travelling from his home town to Lahore, in order to attend college. The daily travel was reminicent of an inner journey of change.
This influenced Dalpar's visual language, where travelling and what is associated with a long journey are integrated into his works. Themes and concepts, such as how we we change once we arrive at our destination, due to the influences and contacts we make along the way, are found in his works of miniature painting.
