Artists Statement
Asif Ahmed uses traditional iconography derived from traditional historical miniatures, transforming these into a new visual expression. By juxtaposing and superimposing two different images from different times of past and present, he raises the question of the link between his cultures past with the present. Have there been improvements? Have we learnt from our mistakes?
And have the contemporary leaders – or Mughals of today - learned from the Mughals of the past?
